The stroke of life: Beyond crisis among the crises

It is interesting how life can suddenly turn and hit you when you least expect it. With medicine as busy and hard enough as it was, I recently learned of my father's unfortunate admission to Davao Doctor's hospital. They said he suffered a mild stroke. But I didn't even expect it to happen. My busy little mind was still preoccupied with the quiz for histology lab when the news came. Immediately after class, I went to the hospital to pay him a visit. What I witnessed was heartbreaking.

He looked so thin and helpless. Amidst the white sheet and tubings, his frail body laid unmoving. I wasn't expecting to see my father in this condition and I certainly wasn't prepared to handle it. I returned the day after and found him unable to speak coherently. And now, I am left with the knowledge that my father would become like this forever. No longer will I come home to someone strong and unyielding, but someone disabled and helpless.

Regardless, I have come to a resolution with myself. Despite for such occurrences, I must remain strong and true to my own goals. I would extend my support to someone who supported me and sacrificed for me since I was brought into this world. And with this, I vowed to redouble my efforts to ensure that what was lost won't be in vain.

Med-life: The Rough Beginning

It had been a while since I updated any of my blogs, including Facebook. Nevertheless, I mbelieve that such absence is well justified. For one, medicine have been extremely difficult. Even the smartest of my classmates were having trouble with the complicated exams and unforgiving tasks that the doctors laid out for us. Many failing grades seem to cast a shadow of doubt of whether we can reach the goals that we set out to attain. However, I believe that I must gather whatever I can to face the challenges that I picked. And in the end, I ,shall emerge victorious.

This blog has been created in my college years. But until I can get a ,Wordpress account, (probably not until I can update my ipad3 from iOS 6 to iOS 7 and get their app running), blogger might be my temporary home for a long while. ;)
